Vikings Trade Dobbs for Future Draft Pick

Cardinals Send Backup Quarterback to Minnesota

Vikings Acquire Draft Capital as Part of Trade Deal

October 31, 2023 at 01:11 PM

The Minnesota Vikings have added to their draft capital, while the Arizona Cardinals have parted ways with backup quarterback David Dobbs. In a trade announced on Tuesday, the Vikings acquired Dobbs and a 2024 seventh-round pick in exchange for a 2024 fifth-round pick.

The Vikings have been active in the trade market this week, having already made a deal for cornerback Cam Dantzler. The addition of Dobbs provides them with another option at backup quarterback behind Kirk Cousins. Dobbs has limited NFL experience, but he has shown potential in his preseason appearances.

For the Cardinals, the trade of Dobbs frees up some salary cap space and allows them to focus on developing their younger quarterbacks. The team has high hopes for Kyler Murray, who is entering his fourth season with the Cardinals.
