Collaborative Effort for Advanced Military Technology

Key Points:

  • Germany joined the CAVS (Common Armoured Vehicle System) program on April 17, 2023.
  • This program, originally initiated by Finland and Latvia, aims to develop a new generation of armoured personnel carriers.
  • The CAVS 66, manufactured by Patria, will replace aging vehicles like the TPz Fuchs and the M113.

The Bundeswehr, the German Armed Forces, has officially joined the CAVS program, marking a significant step in the modernization of its military capabilities.

The CAVS programme was initially established by Finland and Latvia, and later joined by Sweden and now Germany. The program focuses on the development and procurement of a common armoured personnel carrier system, ensuring interoperability and efficiency among participating nations.

The CAVS 66, manufactured by Patria, is a state-of-the-art armoured personnel carrier designed to meet the evolving needs of modern warfare. It features advanced protection systems, enhanced mobility, and a spacious interior for troop comfort and mission versatility.

The adoption of the CAVS 66 will enable Germany to enhance its defence capabilities, improve interoperability with its European partners, and contribute to a more cohesive and effective military system within the region.
