Dominant Third Quarter Helps Celtics Pull Away

The Celtics moved another win closer to another NBA championship with a 125-118 victory over the Mavericks in Game 2 of the NBA Finals on Sunday night. The Celtics now lead the series 2-0 and can clinch the title with a win in Game 3 on Wednesday night.

The Mavericks entered the game with some reason for hope after Celtics big man Kristaps Porzingis, one of Boston's best players in Games 1 and 2, was ruled out with an injury. But the Celtics were able to weather the storm and take a commanding lead in the series.

The Celtics were led by Jayson Tatum, who scored a game-high 31 points. Jaylen Brown added 29 points and Marcus Smart chipped in with 24 points.

The Mavericks were led by Luka Doncic, who scored 26 points. Spencer Dinwiddie added 21 points and Jalen Brunson chipped in with 20 points.

The Celtics took control of the game in the third quarter, outscoring the Mavericks 35-19. The Celtics were able to get to the rim at will and also hit a number of three-pointers.

The Mavericks fought back in the fourth quarter, but the Celtics were able to hold on for the win.
