New Manager Appointed
The Scottish Football Association has appointed Alex McLeish as the new manager of the Scotland national football team. McLeish, who previously managed the team from 2007 to 2009, takes over from Gordon Strachan who stepped down after failing to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
McLeish's Mission
McLeish's first task will be to prepare the team for the upcoming UEFA Nations League campaign, which begins in September. He will also be looking to build a team capable of qualifying for the 2020 UEFA European Championship.
McLeish has a wealth of experience in international football, having also managed the Scotland U-21 team and the Republic of Ireland national team. He will be hoping to use his experience to help Scotland achieve success on the international stage.
